The 2026 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival has begun. This annual celebration of food and beverages is a favorite for the Daps Magic team and for many Disney fans. This is a festival that tends to have something for everyone. This ranges from delicious food and beverages, fascinating demonstrations, enjoyable entertainment, the ever-popular Soarin’ Over California Adventure, merchandise, and more.

For the first day of the festival, the Disneyland Resort invited Daps Magic to a media event to cover all of the offerings. That coverage can be found on Daps Magic’s Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival page. Part of the day included some demonstrations by some of the culinary teams at the Disneyland Resort. This is always a highlight. They are fun, and they are informational.
The first demonstration of the day was from Chef John State, Culinary Director at the Disneyland Resort. He showed how to make the Ramen Mac and Cheese, one of the offerings from this year’s festival. During the demonstration, he shared about the origin of this dish, how to make it, and also some chef’s tips along the way. All of these were very fun to watch. The chef’s tips stood out to me, however. From the chef’s tip, a new idea was also born for future trips.
The full demonstration from Chef John State can be seen here:
After the demonstration, we had the opportunity to chat with Chef John State about his demonstration. During this fun conversation that was mostly us all geeking out about food, I mentioned how I felt like I needed to get another set of silverware, as I always run out of spoons when I’m cooking and tasting along the way (this was one of the chef’s tips he gave).
This led to the Chef planting the seed of an idea of collecting spoons when traveling that can go into a special cup or vessel for tasting food while cooking it. This immediately seemed like an incredible idea! Quite often, when traveling, it is hard to find something to bring home that doesn’t take a lot of space, will actually get used, and also connect with the memory of the trip. This seems like a great way to remember a trip after coming home. It also seems like a fun way to remember this fun media event and conversation at the event.
One of the fun perks of experiencing the demonstrations at the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is getting to learn these little tips and tricks from the experts as they share their experience, knowledge, and wisdom. You never know what is going to jump out at you, spark a new idea, or inspire a new adventure. These are the priceless gifts that come from these experiences. These are some of the reasons to experience these different offerings at the Food & Wine Festival. They also add more seasoning to the recipe of life. And in my humble opinion, that is what really makes life so beautiful and flavorful!
Moving forward, I intend to start collecting random spoons from random places and using them when tasting as I cook. It is VERY possible that these will end up on my Instagram. Be sure to follow along, especially in the stories, to see future culinary adventures in my kitchen… hopefully with some new spoons!
