A Lovely Saturday Candlelight Processional

This last weekend, Disneyland hosted its annual Candlelight Processional. This tradition dates back to the days of Walt Disney. Since 1958, it has brought the story of Christmas to Disneyland. Each year, a celebrity narrator is joined by a mass choir, orchestra, handbells, fanfare trumpeters, and soloists as they all tell the story of the first Christmas.

The Daps Magic team was on hand to film the first show of each night of the Candlelight Processional, as has been the tradition for nearly two decades now. In the late afternoon, it was revealed that Benjamin Bratt was the narrator this year when he came out for a sound check. Shortly after the sun went down, the music began, and soon the mass choir arrived in Town Square.

This moving ceremony was similar to recent years, with some minor tweaks to some of the narrator’s script. It was more or less the same ceremony as in recent years, however. For the first night, I was not the one filming the ceremony, so I was able take photos instead. Below is a look at the photos I took of the first Candlelight Ceremony on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The Candlelight Processional is a beautiful tradition that I’m thankful we have been able to cover for so many years. It is something we look forward to each year. It definitely has its challenges, mainly with trying to get a good standby spot where we can film as many participants as possible. The weekend is full of some very long days; however, when I look back at this weekend and this beautiful experience, I wouldn’t have it any other way! Here is a video of the same performance that the photos were from:
