On June 22, 2022 I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Disney Legend Andreas Deja at The Walt Disney Family Museum. The conversation was about the newest exhibit at the museum, which Andreas Deja was the guest curator for.
During the chat, we chatted about The Jungle Book itself. We also discussed the creative process that Andreas Deja and The Walt Disney Family Museum had as they brought to life Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book: Making a Masterpiece. This included what it is like to work with the team at the museum. I also asked him what his favorite piece of art in the exhibit was, and the answer was both surprising and sweet! Finally, Deja also shared about MUSHKA, an animated passion project that is in the works and will hopefully soon be viewable (you won’t want to miss this, I’m excited!). I hope you enjoy this chat as much I did! Andreas Deja was an incredibly kind and gracious man and it really was an honor to get to interview him!
Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book: Making a Masterpiece is a beautiful look at how The Jungle Book came together. The new exhibit can be seen in the Diane Disney Miller Exhibition Hall at The Walt Disney Family Museum. It includes over 300 pieces of rare art that includes original animation drawings and cels. There are also maquettes, model sheets, pencil tests, story sketches, concept art, behind-the-scenes photos and documents, American and international movie posters, merchandise, interviews, archival film clips, and immersive experiences.
