A Ground Level and Bird’s Eye View Update on Mr. DAPs’ Railway

It’s been quite some time since I’ve provided and update on how Mr. DAPS’ Railway is going in the backyard. Throughout the course of the pandemic, it saw some changes. Part of this was to accommodate some of the plants in the backyard. Other factors included pets and their walking habits, keeping the track clear and clean, and maintenance! Oh, and one other BIG thing! During the pandemic a pond was added to the backyard.

Despite all the changes, and now a shorter route, I’m quite pleased with how the train layout is looking. As is always the case with a garden train (or really any train?), it isn’t finished. In fact, it’s far from. What is there now is what I consider the main line. In the future it is very possible that there will be a secondary line that breaks off the main line and goes further around the yard and can take the train on an adventure.

After polishing up the most recent line, I took some video from the train and also from a drone.

Here is the video that was taken from a flat car being pushed by my LGB 2055 White Pass Diesel Locomotive. I always enjoy White Pass trains as one of my favorite childhood memories was riding aboard the White Pass Railroad as a kid with my grandparents when we traveled up to Alaska.

The second video is from my DJI Mini drone. It is a lot of fun to fly and I think adds a fun and different perspective of the railroad.

As is always the case with Mr. DAPS’ Railway, there will be more updates and changes as time goes by. In fact, as I’m sitting here writing this tonight I can already recognize some changes that were made with some of the plants since filming the new layout earlier this year.

What do you think of the new railroad line? What do you think of the train? Which video is your favorite? What would you like to see more of in the future? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below!

This is so fun! Both of the videos are really cool, but I especially love the on board POV shot. It makes me feel like I shrunk down to the size of the train!

What has changed since you filmed these? Can we see an updated look?
